IBIA Training for Public Officials in Brazil

IBIA delivered a joint technical training session — “Safeguarding Sports Betting: Integrity in Action” — with Brazil’s Ministry of Sport (Secretaria Especial do Esporte) and Ministry of Finance (Ministério da Fazenda), bringing together ministry teams and law enforcement.

The session covered:

• How IBIA’s Global Monitoring and Alert Platform (Global MAP) tracks suspicious betting activity across 1.5M+ sporting events a year, powered by operator intelligence from 90+ licensed operators and 200 brands
• How authorities and licensed operators can share information quickly and effectively to protect sport and consumers
• Good-practice betting integrity measures for prevention, education and investigation
• Governance, due process, and athlete safeguards in match-fixing cases

Why this matters for Brazil

Brazil has taken the fight against match-fixing to the next level - under the new regulatory framework, licensed operators are required to join a sports betting integrity monitoring body like IBIA - making integrity not optional, but an obligation built into the market.

This training is part of IBIA’s ongoing cooperation with both ministries to support oversight, strengthen capacity and keep the regulated market safe.
