IBIA CEO Khalid Ali engaged with African gambling regulators and other stakeholders at SiGMA Africa with a clear message: with the African regulated betting sector projected to grow to US$19.4bn by 2030, integrity protocols become fundamental to safeguarding the integrity of sport and of regulated sports betting operators in the continent.
In his keynote address, Khalid outlined how IBIA’s Mission 2030 sets a vision for strengthening cooperation across the global sports betting ecosystem. Key points included:
Data monitoring, shared intelligence, and coordinated enforcement are strengthening detection, protecting competitions, and reinforcing trust in global sport and sports betting.
By working together, regulators, operators, sports bodies, and payment providers play a crucial role in combatting match-fixing and protecting integrity.
IBIA’s Global Monitoring and Alert Platform (MAP) currently monitors over 1.5 million sports events and more than US$300 billion in betting handle annually.
This operational intelligence led to the identification and sharing of 300 alerts in 2025 alone, with 117 specific alerts issued in Africa over the last five years. The continent’s regulated betting sector is set to grow to US$19.4bn by 2030.
Khalid also engaged with the Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF) where the discussion focused on the essential role of efficient national licensing with structured international integrity monitoring participation in safeguarding the integrity of Africa’s fast-growing regulated betting sector and its customers.
In addition, IBIA’s Head of International Development contributed to discussions during a panel focused on betting integrity from traditional markets to esports.
Reinforcing our commitment to the region, IBIA recently finalised a partnership agreement with the African iGaming Alliance. As the African market matures, we remain dedicated to providing the tools and intelligence necessary to protect the integrity of sport.
